1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1.The promoters
The LIFE14 NAT/IT/000484 Life Under Griffon Wings project (managed by the University of Sassari along with the Regional Forest Agency, the Forestry and Environmental Vigilance Corps and the Bosa Municipality and funded by the European Union's Life Programme), in collaboration with Afni Association of Italian Naturalists section Sardinia, promotes the photo contest "Let's go to griffon vultures", provided by the action E.6.
1.2. The purpose of the initiative
The contest is entitled "Let's go to the griffon vultures" as the expression coined by the project staff before each field outing.
Going to griffon vultures has many meanings: look for the griffon vultures, follow their flight, observe their diet and the stages of the breeding season, admire their beauty and above all collaborate with the Project Life Under Griffon Wings for the protection of the Griffin, a species symbol of Agro-pastoral Sardinia, seriously threatened with extinction.
But griphoning is much more: you walk the streets of agrarian penetration, you admire unspoiled landscapes; you hear the cowbell of the cattle, the characteristic blaon of the sheep and the verses of the other birds of prey; you immerse yourself in scents that change with each season; new natural or archaeological monuments are discovered.
Going to griffon vultures is meeting the men who work in the countryside, listening to their stories, immersing themselves in their lives and feeling the pride with which they tell you about "their" griffon vultures.
We ask you to help us tell this story with images, which will also amaze the general public but always in the spirit of the correct "Going to Griffon vultures". Because if a species has an attractiveness it must always be shown with the right respect.
