From the analysis of the context and causes it emerged that food shortage is a decisive factor among those who over the years have resulted in the critical demographic situation of the population of Griffon vultures in Sardinia.Taking advantage previous experience in Maria Pilu site, - from December 2007 to December 2009 - and in line with the spirit of the LIFE program, the actions aimed at the implementation of the centralized feeding stations have been outlined to ensure a low cost / benefit ratio and their sustainability in the long term. The achievement of this goal will be made possible thanks to the presence of two feeding stations in the territory of Ente Foreste della Sardegna (EFS) – Porto Conte and Monte Minerva -, which now, due to lack of coordination and of an operational protocol for their provisioning, have been supplied only sporadically and coincidentally with the restocking program carried out in the past years.
